Zion-Benton Public Library Strategic Planning Task Force

I. CALL TO ORDER & ROLL CALL
Present: Wendy Driver (Chair), Steffi Smith, and Carol Dolin
Absent: George Anderson, Beverly Mull, and Matt St. Cyr

II.  AGENDA
a. Look at proposed questions & choose 10 – 15 questions for a survey

  • Chose to keep the survey simple.
  • Do a face to face 3 question.
  • Use Survey Monkey online survey.

1. Face to Face Survey

  • Do you use the Zion-Benton Public Library either online or in person (Yes or No). If yes, regularly, occasionally, rarely
  • Why do you visit the Library?
    • To check out or download materials
    • To attend a class or event
    • To book a meeting or study room
    • To use a computer
    • To Socialize
    • To do research or use research materials
    • To consult with a librarian
  • If you do not use the library, what would you like to see:

  • Would you be interested in participating in a focus group to help us plan the Library’s future? If Yes, please provide your name, email address, and telephone number. ____

2. (Survey Monkey)

  • https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/?sm=3agj9ntMNUunmGWE31mWUw%3D%3D We like the survey, but we want to tweak some of the questions. On #3, we want to make the scale 1 – 5 instead of 1 – 10
  • Questions to ask on the survey monkey:
    • What sites should we consider bringing services to & what services should be brought?  Be specific & explain we are considering sending some of our staff and services off site on a periodic basis. Potential sites could be community centers, schools that offer summer programs, coffee shops, apartment buildings. Possible services might include tax forms, reading programs, GED classes, story times in the park

    • Seniors – Super Senior day thru townships, senior center thru the park district, senior group that meets in the Harbor at the community center
    • ZBLA – Leadership Academy
    • Parents at school functions
    • 20-30 year olds
    • Teenagers – Deb Will & librarian @ New Tech
    • Educators
  • Events to reach out to people
    • Run squads (http://zbrun.org/) April – September
    • Harbor Days July 31-Aug. 2
    • Beach Park Fest Aug. 15
    • Summer Fair & Carnival in Winthrop Harbor May 28 – 31 @ 38 Acres
