Fall Reading Challenge: Cozy up with a good book and earn a prize! Just read or listen to five books between 9/21 and 10/26. Submit your reading log online or at the Adult Services desk.
FOR ZB KIDS
Earn prizes and vote for your favorite books! Register at the Youth Services desk and pick up your reading list of these award-winning books beginning Saturday, 9/21. Readers can win prizes for reading 5, 10, 15 or 20 books before 1/31/14.
- The Monarch Award club is sponsored by the Illinois School Library Media Association and is named after Illinois’ state insect, the Monarch Butterfly. The name was chosen to symbolize the freedom that comes from learning to read. This club is for readers in K-3rd grades.
- The Bluestem Award club is sponsored by the Illinois School Library Media Association and is named in honor of Big Bluestem, the state prairie grass. The award may include both timeless classics and current titles. The club is for readers in 3rd through 5th grades.
- The Win with Reading club uses the book list from the Rebecca Caudill Young Readers’ Book Award, named in honor of Rebecca Caudill who lived and wrote in Urbana, IL for nearly 50 years. The award is given in recognition for her literary talent and the universal appeal of her books which have touched the hearts of many children and young adults. This club is for readers in 4th through 8th grades.
Family Reading Club: Read together and earn free books for each family member that participates. Families must read at least 300 pages out loud between 12/1 and 1/11. Sign up at the Youth Services desk.
