Term expires 4/2027

I am Barbara Michelle Price, elected to the Library Board in April 2021.

I was born in Highland Park, IL, raised in South Carolina, and grew up in Waukegan. I attended Waukegan East Campus High School. From there, I went to Pivot Point Academy, where I became a licensed esthetician which allowed me to open my business of esthetics in Waukegan. I decided to continue my education in the medical field by graduating from Robert Morris with an Associate’s degree. I am now a medical esthetician.

I have a passion for working with people, especially young people. I met Beverly Phelps, professor at the College of Lake County, where I volunteered with student clubs and organizations. I volunteered my time with the Boys and Girls club, an outreach program, where we taught crafts, had discussion on life topics, practiced lifetime skills and reading

I also volunteered and am still active with the veterans group “Cup of Joe.” Crystal Hall spearheaded this organization to make veterans aware of benefits that they may have been unaware of. We also worked on developmental skills to help veterans that suffer with PTSD.

I also worked at the Zion Tech campus, where I found the position was pivotal in my achievement for growth. It afforded me the chance to be a mentor to both boys and girls in the high school.
I realized part of my dream to create an educational perspective of growth and knowledge by hosting Caribbean Fest. With approval from the Mayor of Waukegan, we were able to showcase the foods, music, and history of the islands. We had bands and food tasting during the annual Scoop the Loop Festival. The turnout was successful and I was asked to do it again. I consider it one of my greatest achievements.

Currently I am employed at Lake Forest Pediatrics.
I am married to my best friend Clay Pierce. I have three adult children and six grandchildren, with more to come.
I am a creator: sewing, crocheting, knitting, makeup and designing. In my spare time I read and spend time with family and friends.
My vision is to provide outreach and fundamental programs to grow our community and neighborhoods.
