Beverly Mull is an educator who is passionate about reading. She is a tutor for Literacy Volunteers of Lake County. She was inspired to become a trustee to help connect the Library with users. Beverly wants people to know the library is a resource for them and encourage visits.

Beverly coordinated an after school program for 8 years at the library.


United for Libraries names Mull and Johnson ALA Trustee Citation recipients

PHILADELPHIA — United for Libraries has named Beverly Mull of Zion and G. Victor Johnson of Arlington Heights as the recipients of the ALA Trustee Citation.

The ALA Trustee Citation, established in 1941 to recognize public library trustees for distinguished service to library development, honors the best contributions and efforts of the estimated 60,000 American citizens who serve on library boards.

Mull has been a trustee at the Zion-Benton Public Library District since 2005 and currently serves as the board treasurer. An educator who is passionate about reading, she established an after-school tutoring program at the library. She initiated a partnership with the Lake County Health Department. She actively advocates for the library in her work with community agencies and organizations and at the state and national levels.

Mull and Johnson will be recognized as recipients of the ALA Trustee Citation at the Opening General Session of the 2013 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago on Friday, June 28.
