You can place holds and add items to your lists if you login (up at the top of the page) before you search. You can still search the catalog and electronic resources without logging in, but you will be prompted to log in before you can place holds and add items to your lists. SEARCH FOR AN ITEM
BASIC: To search for an item, type a keyword, title, author, or subject in the search bar and click Search.
INTERMEDIATE: Clarify your search by using the dropdown menu to the left of the search bar (where the default shows Keyword) or the dropdown menu to the far left (where the default shows Zion-Benton Public Library).
ADVANCED: Click on ADVANCED SEARCH. Enter words, an exact phrase, etc. Select the format type, language, library, availability, search targets, and limits. Then click ADVANCED SEARCH.
Once your search results load, you have several options:
On the left side, under SEARCH RESULTS, Limit Search Results, click on the link under the category you want to narrow. If you want to narrow multiple items in a category, check the boxes then click on INCLUDE or EXCLUDE. To clear these, click on the red X buttons or CLEAR ALL.
On the left side, select the Online Research Tab to see results related to your search in our eResources. Click on the TITLE for details (email or print the detail) or click on the ELECTRONIC RESOURCE link to go directly to the item. You can select several items to print or email the items to you in one document.
The results are displayed in the main area. The number of results found is displayed at the top. Information, including availability, is indicated under each item.
You can sort the results; view a list or thumbnails; or use the SELECT AN ACTION drop down menu to place hold(s), add the item to your lists, or email, text or print details.
Click on the item you want to see.
For a physical item, the item detail will pop up. You can Like and share the item on Facebook, text details to yourself, place a hold, view the MARC record or create a permalink to share the item with friends, in a bibliography or on a website.
There are two grey bars at the bottom of the page. The first is expanded and shows availability. The second is collapsed. Expand it to see NoveList Readers’ Advisory Information. This feature is AWESOME! You can see what other readers think about the title by reading reviews on Goodreads, see other books in the series, view recommendations for similar series or titles, view similar authors, and look at recommended lists and articles.
For an Electronic Resource (ebook, audiobook, or video), click on the title and the item detail will pop up. You can Like and share the item on Facebook, text details to yourself, view the MARC record or create a permalink to share the item with friends, in a bibliography or on a website.
If the item is available, click on the link under Holding Information, where is says, “CLICK HERE to download this [item], available to cardholders of this library. You will be directed to the item in MyMediaMall or RB Digital, where you’ll need to sign in to check the item out or place a hold.
To start a new search, click on the Home icon to the left of the search bar.
