Please join us as we offer a new educational program to help Zion’s adults develop basic literacy and numeracy skills.
This new Learning Gym program is 100% FREE to the public and will take place each Thursday morning at the Zion-Benton Public Library, Meeting Room A from
Thursday, April 5th through Thursday, September 27th for a 6-month pilot program.
This is not a “class,” but instead directs program participants to complete specific “modules” individually with the assistance of volunteer tutors, provided by the Waukegan Public Library.

If you are a scrapbooker or a crafter and would like to learn how to use a Silhouette Cutting Machine, stop in every 1st Tuesday to learn how.
If you know how to use Silhouette Cutting Machine and would like to work on a project, stop in the last two Tuesdays of the month. You must bring your own supplies; we’ll provide the machine and the software

If you would like to learn how to use a sewing machine, stop by The Sandbox every 1st Thursday to learn how.
If you know how to use sewing machine and would like to work on a project, stop in the last two Thursdays of the month. You must bring your own fabric; we’ll provide the machine and thread.

Tomte (gnome in English and Nisse in Norwegian) might look like tiny little Santas, but their traditional background is as a mythical creature in Scandinavian lore that played a role more similar to a “house gnome” and would secretly live in, or under, a house and protect the children and animals from evil or misfortune. It is not uncommon to find them in modern Swedish homes. Come and make one of your own and hide him around your house!
