Mike Jaworek, Trustee

Mike Jaworek was born and raised in Beach Park and is a resident of Winthrop Harbor, where he has lived since marrying his wife, Susan. The couple has three children and three grandchildren.

Mike’s decision to run for Library Trustee was motivated by his desire to “give back” to the library, which had played such an important role in the lives of his family. In particular, he and his wife had been active participants, with their grandsons, in many of the library’s youth programs, including “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” and weekly Story Time.

Mike brings a wealth of experience to his new role as Library Trustee. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer Science, and has enjoyed a long and successful career in IT. He spent 23 years at Abbott and 6 years at NorStates Bank before retiring.
Mike and his wife are active members of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Zion, where Mike has served as the Treasurer and as a member of the Finance Committee and AV Committee.

Mike is excited to have been elected as a Library Trustee, saying:

“I look forward to the experience of serving in an elected position, learning about the business/operations of a library, and to work alongside my fellow Library Trustees and library staff to ensure that the library meets the needs of our communities.”
