Sanjay Singhal, Trustee

Sanjay R Singhal, RA is honoured to serve his community as a Trustee of the Zion-Benton Public Library.

Born in Mussoorie, India, Sanjay emigrated to the United States with his family in 1967, first making their home in South Dakota before relocating to Illinois ten years later.  After graduating from high school in 1982, Sanjay attended the University of Illinois at Chicago, obtaining a Bachelor of Architecture degree and then the University of Notre Dame, obtaining a Master of Architecture degree.  Sanjay has also travelled and lived abroad rather extensively, sojourning in both Paris and in Rome before returning to Illinois.  A proud homeowner, Sanjay bought his first house two years ago, and has since developed a deep love of gardening, particularly enjoying his delphiniums! 

Presently, Sanjay also serves as the Community Development Director for the Village of Winthrop Harbor, where he interacts daily with village residents.  He is proud to be an active participant in the Village’s efforts to support and to grow with local businesses, and to develop new foci for the village’s rich, varied, and diverse neighbourhoods and families.

Sanjay is also a published author, with several books produced in the past several years, and several more being written.  He is a man of many interests, including architecture, interior design, cooking, couture, and classical music: Mozart, Bach, and Beethoven being some of his favourites.
