2025 Consolidated Election

ZION-BENTON PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT ANNOUNCES TRUSTEE OPENINGS FOR ELECTION IN THE 2025 CONSOLIDATED ELECTION

The Zion-Benton Public Library District announces (1) full six- year term, (1) four-year unexpired year term, and (1) two-year unexpired year term positions open for election to the Zion-Benton Public Library District Board of Trustees during the April 1, 2025 Consolidated Election.  Candidates must be:  registered voters who have resided within the boundaries of the Zion-Benton Public Library District for at least one year at the time of filing nomination papers; not in arrears in the payment of a tax or other indebtedness due to the library district. Candidate information and form packets are available beginning Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at the Zion-Benton Public Library District, 2400 Gabriel Avenue, Zion, IL during the hours the library is open.

The first date to circulate nomination petitions to be a candidate for a Library Trustee position on the Zion-Benton Public Library District Board of Trustees is Tuesday, August 20, 2024.  A minimum of fifty (50) signatures by eligible registered voters are required on the petition in order to get one’s name on the election ballot.  Candidates must file completed forms and petitions at the library during the filing period beginning November 12, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. through November 18, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.

Position on the ballot is determined by time and receipt of petitions. Should more than one petition be filed at the same time by mail or in person, a lottery to determine ballot order will be held at Zion-Benton Public Library at 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2024.

Nov. 12-18, 2024:  Filing period for candidates seeking election.  Must be returned in person, according to filing instructions.  Electronic submissions will not be accepted.

Apr. 1, 2025:  Voting for the consolidated election
