Trustee Elections
We will have 5 seats for the Board of Trustees open for the consolidated election on April 6, 2027.
Three (3) seats are for a full six-year term ending in April 2033,
One (1) seat is for a two-year unexpired term ending in April 2029 and
One (1) seat for a four-year unexpired term ending in April 2031.
The seven-person Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall operations of the library by overseeing the Library Director, approving budgets and setting policies. Time commitments include monthly board meetings and occasional committee meetings as well as generally advocating for the library within the community.
Petition packets will be available from Aug. 25 – Nov. 23, 2026.
Physical packets can be picked at the Check-out Desk during open library hours.
To be eligible, a candidate must:
- Be a registered voter.
- Have resided in the Library District for at least one year before filing their petition for nomination.
- Not be delinquent in paying real estate taxes or have other indebtedness to the Library District.
- Not have a conviction for any felony or infamous crime on or after November 17, 2023 committed while the person was serving as a public official in Illinois.
Petitions must include:
- At least 50 signatures from registered voters who reside within the Library District
- A receipt from the County Clerk indicating that a Statement of Economic Interests has been filed for this office.
Petitions may be filed during normal library administration hours between
Monday, Nov. 16, at 10am and Monday, Nov. 23, 2026 at 5pm
at the Library’s Administration Offices.
Monday, Nov. 23, is the last day to file nomination papers to be added to the ballot for the Consolidated Election. To be the last name on the ballot, candidates need to file between 4:00 and 5:00pm.
A lottery drawing will be held if there are multiple submissions.
