PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that, by Ordinance adopted on the 28th day of July, 2015, the Board of Trustees of the Zion-Benton Public Library District determined to levy an additional tax of 0.02% of the value of all the taxable property in the District, as equalized or assessed by the Department of Revenue, for the purchase of sites and buildings, the construction and equipment of buildings, the rental of buildings required for library purposes, and maintenance, repairs and alterations of library buildings and equipment, said tax levy to be effective for the 2015-2016 fiscal year. The text of said Ordinance is set forth below.
The question of levying a 0.02% tax shall be submitted to the electors of the District if a petition is filed with the Board signed by 2509 registered voters in the District asking that the question of levying said 0.02% tax be submitted to the electors of the District. Said petition must be filed within thirty (30) days after publication of this Public Notice. The date of the prospective referendum is March 15, 2016.

TAKE NOTICE that of the Board of Trustees of the Zion-Benton Public Library District, pursuant to “An Act regulating wages of laborers, mechanics and other workers employed in any public works by the State, county, city or any public body or any political subdivision or by anyone under contract for public works,” approved June 2015, as amended, has determined on, and as effective from June 23, 2015, that the general prevailing rate of wages in this locality for laborers, mechanics, and other workers engaged in the construction of public works coming under the jurisdiction of the Zion-Benton Public Library District is the same as determined by the Department of Labor of the State of Illinois for Lake County as of June, 2015. NOTICE OF FILING PETITIONS FOR NOMINATION OF CANDIDATES FOR ELECTION TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR ZION-BENTON PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT
Notice is hereby given that candidates for membership on the Board of Trustees of the Zion-Benton Public Library District, Lake County, Illinois, to be voted for at the Consolidated Election to be held on April 7, 2015, shall file their petitions at the library’s Administrative Office, 2400 Gabriel Ave., Zion, IL, 60099, on any business day, Monday through Thursday, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, excluding holidays (11/27/14, 12/24/14, and 12/25/14).
Nominating papers will be available on Monday, September 22, 2014, at 9:00 AM at the library’s Administrative Office.
The first day for filing nomination papers for the April 7th Consolidated Election is Monday, December 15, 2014, and the last day for filing of said nomination papers is Monday, December 22, 2014. Candidates’ names will appear on the election ballot in the order in which their nominating papers are received. In the case of simultaneous filings on Monday, December 15, 2014 (at 9:00 AM and via USPS), a lottery will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, December 22, 2014. In the case of simultaneous filings on Monday, December 22, 2014 between the hours of 4:00-5:00 PM, a lottery will be held at 9:00 AM on Monday, December 29, 2014.
Three (3) seats on the Library Board to fill full 6-year terms that will expire in April of 2022 and one (1) opening to fill an unexpired 2-year term that will expire in April of 2017 will be filled at the April 7th election.
Notice is hereby given by the Zion-Benton Public Library District in the City of Zion, County of Lake, State of Illinois, that a tentative budget and appropriation of said library for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2014 is on file and conveniently available for public inspection at the Library’s Circulation Desk, 2400 Gabriel Ave., Zion, IL 60099.
